The Order of
Balance
“I think, that there is enough time for one more story,” the Old Man said,
lighting his smoking pipe.
“A long time ago the World was perfectly
balanced. The forces of Light and Darkness were equal in every respect. Everyone
lived in harmony. Everything was perfect.
There was no need for warriors
because people were protected by the Light. People thought, that it would last
for ever...” The man paused.
“But they were wrong, weren't they?”
asked a small child from the audience.
“Yes. They were wrong.” answered the
Old Man.
There was a murmur amongst the crowd. The storyteller made a
strange sound to get the attention back. Then he continued with his story:
“One day the sky got dark. The Sun disappeared and was replaced by a strange
blood-coloured star. People cowered in fear. Some felt a sense of hatred towards
everyone else. People started to kill each other for no reason whatsoever. It
was horrible.”
The Old Man made paused again, surveying his audience, before
inhaling and continued:
“But some remained untouched by the Evil Power. They
understood that the Darkness was trying to gain control over the World . The balance was gone.
“What about the Forces of Light though? Why weren't they fighting against
the Darkness?” someone asked from the audience.
The Old Man was very pleased
that his story caught the attention of his audience. He continued with a big
smile on his face.
“The Order of Light was trying its best, but it was no use. The
Darkness was much more powerful. A lot of people had joined the Dark side. It
was growing with every passing day. This terrible state of affairs lasted over a
decade.
Eleven years had passed. The Forces of Darkness were almost
unbeatable.
Then a warrior came as if from nowhere. He started to look for
people with a pure heart. When he found three people, he said :
“You are here because you are able to help
us restore the balance. You three will start "The Order of Balance" which will
help us in our time of greatest need.””
“Unfortunately, I forgot the
ending”
“It's a shame that this Order doesn't really exist, isn’t it?”
someone asked.
But there was no reply. The Old Man had gone.
